General Information:
Sleeves are designed to add stiffness to joints between adjoining members and improve load carrying capacity. They are available to suit all section depths and may be supplied in either galvanised or prepainted steel to match that of the cold-rolled sections. These sleeves may be used in either purlin or rails situations and are a critical component in helping to maximise section efficiency. Guidance on the appropriate use of sleeves is provided with the load tables for sigma+ sections. It is essential that these are used as indicated for the load data to remain applicable; failure to install sleeves exactly as directed will invalidate the application of load data for the situation in question. ProSigma+ sleeves connect as indicated in the diagram underneath with similar connection methods used irrespective of whether purlin or rail conditions pertain. M12 Grade 8.8 bolts are used throughout and all sleeves are 1 metre long as standard. More complete details on individual sleeves is available by viewing the product drawings available in the Product codes and drawings table below.
Load data:
ProSigma+ sleeves have been physically tested as part of purlin and rail assemblies and have been proven to improve structural capacity. The benefits have been taken into account in the preparation of load tables with the use of sleeves allowing publication of improved data where these are used. A diagram accompanying each set of load tables indicates if sleeves should be used for the spanning system in question. Where these are specified they must be fitted as indicated for the data to remain valid. Refer to the section on Load Tables for guidance on the correct application of ProSigma+ Sleeves.
How to order:
All ProSigma+ Sleeves are uniquely identifiable by product code and these should be used when ordering. The codes for each product along with drawings and CAD files are included in the table below.
